Aries Jenny Slate and Gemini Chris Evans are starring in the upcoming drama, Gifted, together. Since the end of filming, they have gotten together and broken up.
Both stars were recently profiled in anticipation of their upcoming movie. While Slate spoke a lot about the relationship to Vulture, Evans said the topic was off-limits in an interview with Esquire. Let’s delve into the Aries/Gemini relationship and see if there is any chance for them to reconcile in the future.
Aries and Gemini are both chatterboxes who love to explore and try new things. Both are lively, energetic, and humorous. This couple can provide each other with the mental stimulation they both desire. Aries are very firm in their beliefs, and Gemini, who are interested in learning about everything, will want to know more about their opinions. While the chemistry is bound to be off the charts, the main issue that could arise in an Aries/Gemini relationship is lack of trust. While Aries are in it for the long-haul and thrive on long-lasting relationships, Gemini are known for flitting from one person to another in search of the “perfect” love. Aries are used to being in control, so they might want to leave before someone else catches the charming Gemini’s eye.
As an Aries, Slate is naturally drawn to speaking her truth. In one of the most honest celebrity interviews ever, she told Vulture, “I don’t mind talking about him at all. He’s a lovely person.” She further explained, “I don’t know. It feels like such a huge thing. Last year was a giant, big year for my heart. I’ve never, ever thought to keep anything private because that’s not really what I’m like, and now I’m learning those things, and they’re weird, kind of demented lessons to learn.”
The two proved to engage in some typical Aries/Gemini banter during their first dinner together. The pair argued over whether Evans should pay the bill or if they should split it. “If you take away my preferences, you take away my freedom,” she says she told him. “Then I was like, Oh, man, is this dude going to be like, ‘Ugh, this bra-burner.’ Instead, he was like, ‘Tell me more.’”
Slate painted Evans as a classic Gemini. She said that he planned game nights to get the Gifted cast and crew together, was one of the kindest people she’d ever met, a “sunny, loving, really fun person” with a heart “that is probably golden-colored, if you could paint it.”
It seems that doubt is what may have caused the relationship to go south. Slate said, “To be quite honest, I didn’t think I was his type, eventually, when it was like, Oh, you have these feelings for me? I was looking around like, Is this a prank? I mean, I understand why I think I’m beautiful, but if you’ve had a certain lifestyle and I’m a very, very different type of person — I don’t want to be an experiment.” She also explained, “If you are a woman who really cares about her freedom, her rights, her sense of being an individual, it is confusing to go out with one of the most objectified people in the entire world.”
On Evans’ end, he wouldn’t specifically talk about his relationship with Slate, but the interviewer for Esquire said he could “almost feel his heart pinch” when he asked Evans about it. However, Evans did talk about relationships in general, saying it is definitely easier to date an actress who understands his lifestyle. “There’s a certain shared life experience that is tough for someone else who’s not in this industry to kind of wrap their head around.”
Although Evans and Slate are in the same industry, they are in different stratospheres of fame. Evans plays one of the most famous superheroes of all time, while Slate has had guest roles on the Kroll Show and Parks and Recreation, while also doing voice work and starring in indie movies. Slate said “we’re really, really different, Chris is a very, very famous person. For him to go to a restaurant is totally different than for me to go. I sit in my window and I say ‘Hi’ to people on the street. I have more freedom because I’m not Captain America. I’m mostly a cartoon.”
It is unlikely the two would have connected if it were not for Gifted, but the two truly do seem like a good match. Slate told Vulture, “I remember him saying to me, ‘You’re going to be one of my closest friends.’ I was just like, ‘Man, I fucking hope this isn’t a lie, because I’m going to be devastated if this guy isn’t my friend.’” If you’re not swooning over that cuteness and hoping they get back together, you must have a dark soul.
Although the relationship is currently off, there is a slight chance of reconciliation when the pair goes on the press tour for Gifted. Slate said “I feel pretty relaxed about it right now, that’s because I know Chris and he’s a very nice man. And we’ve gone into our separate lives. But that doesn’t also mean that I’m going to sleep well the night before, you know?”
For this couple to work, they need to work their way back to trusting one another. Aries wear their heart on their sleeves, while Gemini often beat around the bush when it comes to talking about their feelings. Slate and Evans seem to have the basic foundation for an amazing relationship, but need to step beyond the fears of fame and the future. Although, according to Slate, they “threw down” in the end, we’re hoping this captivating duo can make it work!
